RAI Ontology Engineer (ROE)

Role: Senior Ontology Engineer FCC Phase: Create Category: Responsible_ai Archetype: The Knowledge Architect

Overview

Designs and maintains responsible AI ontologies, knowledge graph schemas, and ethical AI taxonomies that encode fairness constraints, bias-aware data models, and accountability relationships. Ensures ontological structures align with NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act, and IEEE 7000 principles to enable machine-readable governance of AI systems.

Deliverables

  • RAI Ontology Schemas — OWL/SKOS ontology definitions encoding fairness and accountability
  • Bias-Aware Data Models — Constraint axioms for bias detection across protected attributes
  • Ethical AI Taxonomies — Hierarchical classification of ethical AI concepts with regulatory traceability
  • Knowledge Graph Governance Reports — Consistency verification and schema evolution documentation

Collaboration

  • AEA (upstream) — Receives ethical audit findings for ontology encoding
  • XAE (downstream) — Provides ontology schemas for explanation graph construction
  • STE (peer) — Aligns ethical AI taxonomy with semantic taxonomy standards
  • ACO (downstream) — Supplies ethical constraint models for compliance verification
