Educators: A 4-Week SAFe + FCC Unit for Advanced Undergrads¶
FCC ships a live SAFe instance (9 portfolio epics, PI calendar, value streams) that doubles as a teaching corpus. These five prompts produce a 4-week unit for senior CS majors already familiar with Scrum but not scaled agile.

Prompt 1: Week 1 — Orient¶

Design Week 1 (90 minutes lecture + 90 minutes lab). Learning
outcomes: students can (a) recite the 6 SAFe core competencies,
(b) name the 4 SAFe configurations, (c) locate the 9 FCC
portfolio epics in docs/safe/portfolio/epics.md.
Deliverable: lecture outline (12 slides), one in-class exercise,
one homework prompt.

Prompt 2: Week 2 — PI Planning¶

Prompt¶
Week 2: PI Planning ceremony simulation. Students role-play as
RTE, PM, and feature owners. Use FCC's PE-001..PE-009 as the
backlog. Produce the rubric for grading their PI objectives
(business value, clarity, dependency-awareness).

Prompt 3: Week 3 — Flow Metrics¶

Prompt¶
Week 3: Flow metrics lab using Notebook 39. Students load
docs/safe/portfolio/epics.md, compute throughput and lead-time,
and answer three analytical questions about FCC's v1.4.x
trajectory. Provide the question bank + expected answer shape.

Prompt 4: Week 4 — Inspect-and-Adapt¶

Week 4: students run a full I&A on FCC's simulated PI-2027-Q1
outcomes. They produce an improvement backlog (5 items) and
present in class. Provide the presentation rubric and the
grade breakdown.

Prompt 5: Assessment Bank¶

Prompt¶
Produce 12 quiz questions (4 per week 1-3, 0 for week 4 which
is project-based). Mix of multiple-choice, short-answer, and

specific FCC source files.
