A Day in the Life: JV Governance Personas¶
Personas: IEA (IP Evaluation Analyst), PCO (Partner Compliance Officer), PPA (Partnership Performance Analyst), OSC (Open Source Compliance), JDA2 (JV Data Auditor), IRS (Inter-org Risk Specialist)
Morning: IP and Compliance Review¶
IEA begins the day evaluating intellectual property contributions from two partner organizations. Each contribution needs a licensing review: is the code under a compatible license? Are there patent encumbrances? Does the contribution include third-party dependencies that restrict downstream use? IEA produces an IP evaluation report with risk ratings and recommended actions.
PCO reviews the partnership agreements and checks compliance against contractual obligations. Are both partners delivering their committed resources? Are the agreed-upon milestones being met? PCO maps each obligation to evidence of compliance and flags any gaps with remediation deadlines.
Midday: Performance and Audit¶
PPA compiles performance metrics for the joint venture. Contribution velocity, code quality metrics, documentation coverage, and response times are aggregated across both organizations. PPA identifies asymmetries -- where one partner is contributing significantly more than the other -- and prepares a balanced scorecard for the steering committee.
JDA2 audits data sharing practices between the organizations. Every data exchange is checked for schema compliance, consent coverage, retention policy adherence, and access control correctness. JDA2 produces a data audit report with findings categorized by severity.
Afternoon: Risk Assessment¶
OSC verifies open source compliance across all joint venture outputs. License compatibility matrices are updated to reflect new dependencies. OSC checks for license conflicts, attribution requirements, and copyleft obligations that could affect distribution rights.
IRS conducts a cross-organizational risk assessment. IRS maps risks across categories: legal (IP disputes, contract breaches), technical (integration failures, data leaks), operational (resource shortfalls, timeline slippage), and reputational (quality degradation, compliance failures). Each risk gets a likelihood and impact score, and IRS recommends mitigation strategies.
