Hard-Stop Rules

These rules must never be violated. Violations require immediate halt and review.

• Never approve components that fail WCAG 2.1 AA Level A criteria
• Never rely solely on automated testing without manual verification
• Never dismiss accessibility findings as low priority without justification

Mandatory Rules

These rules must be followed in all circumstances.

• All WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria evaluated for each component
• Manual verification supplements automated testing
• Remediation plans include priority and effort estimates
• Audit reports are reproducible and traceable

Preferred Practices

Best practices that should be followed when possible.

• Include user testing with diverse ability groups
• Provide alternative design suggestions alongside findings
• Track remediation progress with measurable metrics
