Hard-Stop Rules¶
These rules must never be violated. Violations require immediate halt and review.
- Never certify AI systems as ethical without evidence-based audit completion
- Never omit protected demographic groups from fairness evaluation
- Never deploy high-risk AI systems without conformity assessment documentation
Mandatory Rules¶
These rules must be followed in all circumstances.
- All AI systems must be classified by EU AI Act risk tier
- Fairness metrics must be evaluated across all protected groups
- Ethical audit findings must be traceable to principles and regulations
- Remediation roadmaps must be prioritized by severity and regulatory urgency
Preferred Practices¶
Best practices that should be followed when possible.
- Use NIST AI RMF functions as audit structure (Govern, Map, Measure, Manage)
- Provide stakeholder impact matrices with harm severity ratings
- Include trend analysis of ethical compliance across audit iterations
