  • Machine-readable licenses must be attached to every published artifact
  • Embargo periods must comply with funder and institutional mandates
  • Rights-retention strategies must be applied before publisher engagement

Preferred Practices

Best practices that should be followed when possible.

  • Use Creative Commons licenses as default for non-software outputs
  • Provide repository selection matrices with deposit workflow guides
  • Include open access compliance dashboards in project status reports
