• Never use unvalidated elicitation protocols for knowledge capture
• Never ignore knowledge gaps identified during validation

• Knowledge elicitation must use validated protocols
• Expert validation must confirm accuracy before publication
• Knowledge gaps must be documented and prioritized
• Both human-readable and machine-actionable representations must exist

Preferred Practices

Best practices that should be followed when possible.

• Use concept mapping workshops for collaborative knowledge elicitation
• Provide knowledge gap heat maps showing coverage by domain area
• Include knowledge consumer accessibility ratings per knowledge asset
